A spectacular limited edition release, the Balvenie Tun Batch 5 bottling is a marriage of the malt master’s favourite 29 casks. Amber in colour, it offers spiced elements with sherry attributes, rich fruits and superb depth.

Following in the footsteps of batches 1-4 of The Balvenie Tun 1509, Batch 5 – a non-chill filtered whisky, bottled at 52.6% ABV – illustrates the science and craft of The Balvenie Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE, who draws upon 55-years’ worth of experience and knowledge of whisky stock management to produce an expression of exemplary quality and character.

To produce Batch 5 of Tun 1509, David explored the Speyside distillery’s aged and precious stocks to find 29 unique casks to marry in the Tun, which is maintained by the distillery’s team of on-site coopers and sits proudly in Warehouse 24. The liquid was left to marry for three months before being bottled at the distillery. This rare technique creates the perfect environment for the different casks to ‘knit’ together – allowing each of their composite qualities to mix and create a unique single malt Scotch whisky which is more than the sum of its constituent parts.
